World Orchestra Festival 2018
The World Orchestra Festival provides opportunities for orchestras to (1) compete, (2) perform, and (3) take part in workshops held by professors of University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, members of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra and other renowned musicians and educators.
The Festival is held in Vienna in July every year, supported by the Austrian federal government authorities, the city government of Vienna, provincial government of Burgenland, the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, the Vienna Boys Choir, Haydn Foundation and Liszt Cultural Center, a series of NGOs, enterprises and parties. Since its premiere in Vienna in July 2013, orchestras from Austria, China, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Malaysia, Singapore etc. have participated in the festival and brought beautiful memories and friendships back home.
The World Orchestra Festival 2018 will take place in Vienna on 19-22 July 2018. This year, 25 DAO players, including 8 guest players from the DSOBA Orchestra, will participate in this four-day event. DAO will be performing at the Vienna City Hall Square, as well as the iconic Golden Hall of Wiener Musikverein, which is considered to be one of the finest concert halls in the world and it is also where the famous New year's Concert of the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra takes place.
